On July 12th, 2018 merchandise management experts from the fashion retail industry met once again at the TAILORIT Round Table Planning & Merchandising. The aim of these regular round tables is to discuss current trends and developments, exchange experiences and gain new ideas. The focus this time: instore insights and optimization approaches of classic season planning.
A highlight of the event was one participant’s presentation on how markdown management has been optimized in his own company. Specifically, the participant reported on his positive experiences with the use of algorithms and the cooperation with aifora – a solution provider for intelligent pricing tools.
The topic “Integration of e-commerce into planning processes, including capsule strategies, flash programs & best practices” was also actively discussed and different opinions and perspectives were exchanged. Furthermore, Mirco Schönebeck, Principal at TAILORIT, held a presentation on “Instore Insights” and presented the interim results of a survey in which retailers were asked which information they are lacking in offline retail and which technologies they already use or plan to implement in order to gather data. Lastly, the possible uses and limitations of predictive analytics were presented and discussed with interest.
