On March 1st, 2018, TAILORIT once again hosted its Round Table Planning & Merchandising. Since 2017 participants of the Round Table have been meeting quarterly for practically-oriented and professional discussions in an intimate atmosphere. This Round Table is where managers and experts in the field of merchandise management from leading fashion and lifestyle brands come together.

Currently, the market dealing with a variety of issues that have a significant impact on the areas of planning and merchandising. Examples include the impact of digitalization and the power of dynamic pricing. These, as well as additional long-standing issues regarding planning, assortment optimization and in-season management, are discussed at this Round Table.

This time the focus was on the current meaning of seasons and the challenges that result from changing customer demands. Which possible or necessary actions do the participants see? Or what are they perhaps already doing? Moreover, the relevance of optimization possibilities for in-season management was discussed (merchandise distribution, mark-downs, etc.)

Particular interest was bestowed on the topic of data analysis via modern algorithmic models. TAILORIT experts presented real-life examples of how new and valuable insights for an improved stock-oriented and margin-oriented mark-down management can be derived from historical data.

The next TAILORIT Round Table Planning & Merchandising will take place in June 2018. The topics will once again be chosen according to participants’ wishes. Presentations, praxis tests as well as discussions are on the agenda.
